Co-Founder & Chairman
For over three decades, Porter Bennett has pioneered innovative analytical approaches to understanding the natural gas, crude oil and, most recently, water markets. As Co-Founder of B3, a subsidiary of Ponderosa Advisors, LLC, he leads all strategic company initiatives, delivering data-driven water analytics to the energy and environment sectors. Prior to B3, Mr. Bennett founded BENTEK Energy in 1985, served as CEO, and led the company’s development until 2011 when he sold it to Platts, a division of McGraw Hill Financial.
He holds an MS degree in mineral economics from the Colorado School of Mines, an MA degree in international affairs from Columbia University, and a BA degree in history from Lewis & Clark College.
Co-Founder & CEO
Kelly Bennett is the co-founder and CEO at B3 Insight, the leading platform for water-related data and analytics in the energy and environment sectors. He has spent his career making obscure natural resource and commodity data usable for high value decision making. Prior to B3, Kelly built the global energy desk at BENTEK Energy (Platts) and co-founded Ponderosa Energy, an oil and gas market analytics company acquired by Enverus in 2016. Kelly is a board member of the Western Landowners Alliance, a nonprofit that advances policies and practices that sustain working lands, connected landscapes, and native species and is an active volunteer with Colorado Uplift, one of Denver’s largest and oldest nonprofit programs to engage in long-term, life-changing relationships with urban youth. Additionally, Kelly is a member of the Advisory Board for the Internet of Water at Duke University's Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, and a key contributor to the Aspen Institute Dialogue Series on Water Data. Kelly holds a B.S. in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College.
Director of Sales
Lynelle has over 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry, as both a sales executive and petroleum engineer. She began her career as a production engineer with Chevron in California. Lynelle has been a key contributor to several successful oil and gas technology companies, including Decisioneering (now Oracle), Merak Projects (acquired by Schulumberger), Schlumberger Information Solutions, and Cartasite (acquired by Geoforce), helping clients transform their business processes through innovative technology.
Lynelle joined B3 Insight in September 2019 and has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Engineering from Stanford University.
Director of Product
Rob Bruant currently serves as Director of Product for B3 Insight. Previously, Rob worked in a variety of roles for BP and Pioneer Natural Resources including Strategy Manager, Subsurface Manager, Reservoir Engineer, and Petroleum Systems Analyst. Rob also held positions of Instructor and Research Associate at Princeton University.
Rob holds a B.A. in Geosciences from Franklin and Marshall College, a Ph.D. in Hydrology from the University of Arizona, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Produced Water Society, the Dallas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and contributes as the Membership Chairperson for SPE’s Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration Technical Section. Rob is a licensed Professional Geoscientist, Professional Hydrologist, and Certified Petroleum Engineer.
Parker has a computer science degree and has been developing code for over a decade. What he enjoys most about his position is creating new and innovative projects with the latest technology.
Senior Product and Data Analyst
As a Senior Product Analyst, Samantha develops databases and provides in-depth analysis on oilfield water intelligence. With over 15 years of experience building databases in the energy sector, Samantha combines primary analysis of water-related data with research into their legal and regulatory administration. Prior to B3, Samantha was a natural gas and power analyst at BENTEK Energy where she played an integral role in developing a multidimensional data and analysis solution for various energy sectors including commodities prices, international gas markets and steel. Samantha holds a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the Colorado School of Mines.
Director of Technology
As Director of Technology, Mike provides leadership for the continued development of B3’s innovative, robust, and secure information technology environment. He leads the software development team and is responsible for the architecture and operations of the company’s IT systems, in addition to a wide variety of strategic technology issues. Mike has worked in the world of software development and data analysis for more than two decades. Prior to B3, Mike was the Lead Software Developer at BENTEK Energy where he lead the development of the company’s BUD multidimensional analytics system as well as being the lead developer of the company’s Oil and Gas reporting products suite. Mike received a B.S. in Computer Science from UC Santa Barbara. He enjoys time with his family, hiking and skiing.
Chief Operating Officer
Richard is an experienced entrepreneur and executive with an impressive history of leading ambitious initiatives in technology-based companies. As B3’s Chief Operating Officer, Richard’s role is to execute the company’s vision and roadmap, and to oversee financial operations and organizational development.
Prior to B3, Richard was the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and President of CO2Nexus, Inc (dba TERSUS Solutions), a start-up focused on replacing water across the global $800B+ textile processing industry with a novel liquefied gas solution. Over eight years he grew the team 4x and managed the growth of the company from pre-seed through commercial deployment across key target market segments with major corporations in U.S., EU, and Asia, prior to a 2017 exit.
Richard serves as an Advisor to start-ups and venture firms in the dynamic Colorado economy, both directly and also through the Rockies Venture Club. Richard holds an M.A. in Public Policy and a B.A. in Economics from the College of William & Mary. He is an avid outdoorsman and spends his free time fishing, snowboarding, reading, and spending time with his family.
As a Product Analyst, Abigail plays an integral role driving the business forward through the utilization of measurement tools, market intelligence, and analysis of critical product initiatives. She is responsible for collecting and analyzing data and performing data quality audits that validate and maintain data integrity. Prior to B3, Abigail was a Geophysicist at U.S. Geological Survey Landslide Hazard Team and worked on scientific apparatus design, fabrication, and modification as well as data collection, preparation and analysis of landslide data in the U.S.
Abigail received her Professional Masters in Petroleum Reservoir Systems at Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science in Geophysical Engineering at Colorado School of Mines. Outside of work, Abigail enjoys swimming, spending time with her dog, and exploring Denver.
As Account Executive, Ryan is responsible for business development for B3’s oilfield water intelligence solutions. His role includes engaging with key decision makers, understanding their needs and providing better solutions to help customers improve their workflow and become more profitable through the use of B3’s technology and data. Prior to joining B3, Ryan was an Energy Credit Analyst at US Bank where he analyzed and communication E&P and midstream company’s financial performance and trends.
Ryan received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Nebraska. Outside of work, Ryan is an avid golfer, water skier, and snowboarder. He also loves a good book, particularly the most influential book he’s read called Think & Grow Rich by Napolean Hill.
As a Product Analyst, Ross plays an integral role driving our product suite forward through the utilization of measurement tools, market intelligence, and analysis of critical product initiatives. Ross advances the development of our products for the oilfield water industry, specifically focusing on subsurface characterization and reservoir/hydrologic modeling services. He is also responsible for collecting and analyzing data and performing data quality audits that validate and maintain B3’s data integrity. Prior to B3, Ross was an Engineering Intern with the City of Denver Public Works Wastewater Division.
Ross received an M.S. in Hydrologic Science and Engineering at Colorado School of Mines and a B.A. in Geology at Colgate University. Outside of work, Ross enjoys hiking, biking, ski touring, fly fishing, and anything that gets him outside.
Junior Software Developer
As a Junior Software Developer, Logan is responsible for full stack software development. He specifically focuses on B3’s data collections technologies, maintaining the company’s automated collection system and data warehouse, and troubleshooting system issues. Logan has a high degree of technical knowledge and passion to work collaboratively to deliver innovative solutions for our customers.
Prior to B3, Logan was a Software Developer Intern at DigitalGlobe where he was responsible for automating imagery validation software.
Logan earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Colorado State University. Outside of playing video games when he’s not at work, Logan has climbed four Colorado fourteeners with his Dad after having major back surgery and he plans to conquer more of them in the future.
As Office Manager, Lindsey assists with the company’s administrative duties, accounting and human resources support. She helps keep the office running and supports the team on a variety of projects. Before joining B3, Lindsey worked in elementary education. Lindsey loves exploring the beauty of Colorado and cheering for the Michigan State Spartans with her husband and two children.
Senior Software Developer & Data Collections Specialist
As a Senior Software Developer and Data Collections Specialist, Jamie is responsible for full stack software development. He built B3’s collection system from the ground up and leads the company’s efforts in maintaining B3’s automated collection system and data warehouse. Jamie is continually venturing into uncharted territory with innovative solutions for our customers.
Prior to B3, Jamie was a Software Engineer at BENTEK Energy where he was responsible for maintaining the company’s automated collection system and data warehouse.
Jamie has an Associate of Applied Science in Software Development degree from Lake Area Technical Institute. In addition to developing his own applications and researching technology, Jamie enjoys spending time with his wife and dogs.
Sarah is responsible for driving B3’s market research, content creation, ideation, and engagement. She brings over a decade of experience in entrepreneurship, non-profit, and global corporation with a client-centric focus, always sharing industry best practices and process improvements that lead to positive business outcomes. Prior to joining B3, Sarah was in product launch marketing at Schneider Electric and the founder of an award winning events management company.
Sarah is pursuing a Master’s in Political Science from George Washington University. She also holds a Micro Masters in Marketing Analytics from the University of California Berkeley and a B.S. in International Organization Leadership from Middle TN State University. In her free time she plays tennis and enjoys camping, snowboarding, reading, and traveling.
Water Rights Specialist and Certified Paralegal
Nancy has over 20 years of experience in Montana water rights. She is an expert at advising clients to help them understand, use and protect their water rights.Nancy spends time outdoors and is an avid downhill skier, hiker and kayaker.
As a Product Manager, Mark plays an integral role managing and executing B3’s product roadmap. He is responsible for synthesizing external research and leveraging internal analytics to develop the product and execution of B3’s data roadmap, while having an extensive knowledge of the underlying data. Prior to B3, Mark was a Research Analyst at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions. Mark received his Masters in Environmental Management from Duke University and Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California Santa Barbara. He is also holds certifications in Geographic Information Systems and Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
